About Norma: 

Norma Kamali is an iconic designer who has created unforgettable pieces: The Sleeping Bag Coat, Farrah Fawcett’s Red Swim Suit, and The Parachute Dress. She is known for her innovative yet timeless approach to fashion. Norma’s career spans over four decades and her designs are recognized worldwide. Her clothing is coveted by top celebrities and stylists alike. Norma Kamali is not only known for her swim collection, but her other bodies of work includes timeless modern clothing in every classification. Beauty, health and wellness is clearly woven into her DNA. That DNA, along her understanding of the human form sets her apart from all others.

Norma Kamali has won numerous awards for her designs, as well as for her fashion films, architecture and interior design. The influence she has on the fashion industry can be seen throughout her career. Norma has been ahead of the curve in fashion but also in other areas as well. The no makeup, makeup collection in the early 90’s, her fitness line of technical active clothing, and her early use of the internet in the 90’s to interact directly with her clients are a few examples. Her 3D films, involvement in virtual and augmented reality for education, entertainment, and fashion all used in unique way to tell the story of her brand.

Norma’s clients have worn her clothes throughout the years and they have defined each decade with her designs. Celebrities like Madonna, Farrah Fawcett, Cher, and Raquel Welch to name a few. Today Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Sofia Vergara, Chrissy Teigen, Nicki Minaj and Lady GaGa have all worn Kamali’s designs.

What better way to take advantage of the gorgeous Southern California weather than to host a brunch al fresco?  The Diva Lounge partnered with Shawn Bacot of CBS Radio/ and selected Tart Restaurant‘s pool-side patio as the setting for a casual weekend meal to connect some of LA’s most talented creatives.  Professionals from Sony Pictures, Warner Music, Apple and more joined together to enjoy a delicious meal, chat pop culture (Coachella and Scandal topped the list) and build relationships.

About Joanne Wilson

Joanne Wilson has had many careers. She started out in retail, eventually moving to the wholesale arena. She then transitioned to the media side of the technology world, before reinventing herself as an investor.  She is currently an active angel investor with a portfolio of over 65 companies such as Food52, Catchafire, Vengo, Nestio, Captureproof, Makers Row, Le Tote, and Little Borrowed Dress. She has been involved in numerous real estate transactions from beginning to end and continues to make investments in that world. She is also an investor in a few restaurants in the New York area. In addition to these endeavors, Joanne has been involved in various education projects and chairs Hot Bread Kitchen, a non­profit committed to increasing access to the culinary industry for woman and minority entrepreneurs. She also sits on the board of The Highline and Wesleyan University.

Joanne has maintained her very popular blog,, for over 10 years. She loves to bake, cook, throw a good party, travel, read, collect art, do the crossword and stay on top of what’s happening around the globe and in NYC.

Her most successful venture is being married to her best friend, Fred and raising their three kids­ Jessica, Emily and Josh.
