In the market to purchase a new car?  Check out the brand new site from Tara Weingarten (an internationally recognized automotive journalist) and Marjory Hawkins (a promotions, marketing and branding veteran).

According to their website:

VroomGirls is the first comprehensive automotive website created by and for women. Our site features honest, informative, and jargon-free vehicle reviews, features, fun road trip travel stories, and newsy items on what’s up in the car world, including how it intersects with celebrity and fashion. Diva Dish: The Best (and Worst) Countries for Women

Nov 2, 2011   //   by Shayna D   //   Blog, Diva Dish Topics  //  No Comments

The World Economic Forum recently released their 2011 Global Gender Gap Report, which ranks 135 countries in the following areas:

1. Economic participation and opportunity, which covers the wage gap as well as the percentage of women working and women working in high-skill jobs.
2. Educational attainment, which includes access to all levels of education.
3. Health and survival, which measures life expectancy and mortality rates.
4. Political empowerment, which measures how women are represented in decision-making structures (i.e. the government).

Topping the list? ICELAND, with Norway, Finland, Sweden, Ireland, New Zealand, Denmark, Philippines, Lesotho (Africa) and Switzerland rounding out the Top 10. (The U.S. ranks #17)

The worst places to be a woman?  Cote d’Ivoire, Saudi Arabia, Mali, Pakistan, Chad and Yemen fell at the bottom of the list.

Inspiration: Quotes

Nov 1, 2011   //   by Shayna D   //   Blog, Inspiration  //  No Comments

“What you still need to know is this: before a dream is realized, the soul of the world tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we move toward that dream. That’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst, just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.’ Every search begins with beginners luck. And every search ends with the victor’s being severely tested.” ~Paulo Coelho (Author)
